LAPD News:
Los Alamos Police arrested Marcos Ortiz, 44, of Santa Fe Thursday following several accidents on the Main Hill Road.
LAPD Det. Sgt. James Rodriguez reported that he observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on the Main Hill Road/N.M. 502. Los Alamos Police immediately responded, however three vehicles were reported being struck or had crashed as a result of the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction in Santa Fe County.
Los Alamos Police also received a report of a pedestrian struck by the same motorist just inside the Los Alamos County line. Eventually, officers made contact with the driver, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of the following charges:
- Possession of controlled substance;
- Possession of drug paraphernalia;
- Aggravated DWI;
- Open Container;
- Reckless driving;
- Immediate notice of crashes;
- Leaving the scene of an accident;
- Roadways laned for traffic; and
- Turning signals and movements required.
“Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the traffic crashes that occurred in Santa Fe County,” Los Alamos Police Cmdr. Oliver Morris said.
