Direstor Charlie McMillan spoke at a Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund reception thursday evening.
The event recognized students from seven Northern New Mexico counties who are recipients of this year’s scholarships through the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund.
Funding for the scholarships comes from $411,500 in donations from Los Alamos National Laboratory employees and Los Alamos National Security, LLC.
The list of the 73 students receiving scholarships in 2013 is on the LANL Foundation website at http://www.lanlfoundation.org/Scholarships/Recipients.html
The Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund encourages Los Alamos National Laboratory employees, retirees and subcontractor personnel to donate to a fund that awards college scholarships to Northern New Mexico students.
The Laboratory’s 2013 scholarship drive begins May 1. Donations to the fund will be used to award scholarships in 2014.
The Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund program began in 1998 and is administered by the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation. Since its inception, more than 725 scholarships have been awarded, and Laboratory employees have donated more than $3 million to the fund.
