The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Los Alamos National Security, LLC (LANS) submitted an alternative compliance request for Site 03-056(c) in S-SMA-2.0 and Sites 03-013(a) and 03-052(b) in S-SMA-0.25 to EPA on April 30, 2013. The alternative compliance request provides a detailed demonstration of why the Permittees are unable to certify completion of corrective action under Parts I.E.2(a) through I.E.2(d) individually or collectively and outlines proposed corrective actions.

The public notices published in the Los Alamos Monitor and the Santa Fe New Mexican newspapers on May 1, 2013, are available on the Individual Permit for Storm Water website (http://www.lanl.gov/community-environment/environmental-stewardship/protection/compliance/individual-permit-stormwater/index.php) in the “What’s New” box. The “What’s New” box also contains (1) a link to the alternative compliance request submitted to EPA on April 30, 2013, and supporting documentation, (2) a comment submittal form (for convenience comments may be submitted electronically), and (3) the agenda for the public meeting. Hard copies of the alternative compliance request and all supporting documentation may be requested by sending an email to envoutreach@lanl.gov.
