LANL Foundation News:

ESPAÑOLA — The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation  congratulates its vice president of Career Pathways and Advocacy, Alvin Warren, who recently received GlobalMindED’s 2022 Inclusive Leader Award for Foundations and Funders.

Each year, the Inclusive Leader Awards honors individuals for their “…innovations and bold actions to promote access and equity for women, people of color, and underrepresented populations in their recruiting, development, senior management on their boards, and in their pipeline strategies from education to employment.”

The award winners are members of underrepresented minority communities whose accomplishments and leadership serve as guideposts for the first-generation and poverty-affected students that GlobalMindED exists to support.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had during my time in philanthropy to support communities, families and youth, especially here in New MexicoI,” Warren said. “It’s my hope that this recognition by GlobalMindED serves as a reminder of the important work being done by BIPOC leaders in our sector and the obligation philanthropy has to improve how it both reflects and serves Tribal Nations and BIPOC communities.”

Warren is a lifelong northern New Mexican, a member of Santa Clara Pueblo and a 30-year resident of the Española Valley. He has served as the cabinet secretary of Indian affairs for the State of New Mexico and the lieutenant governor of Santa Clara Pueblo. He also has been a program officer for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, a board member of the Chamiza Foundation and a board member of the International Funders for Indigenous Peoples.

He is a graduate of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and Dartmouth College. At LANL Foundation, Warren has worked to expand students’ access to academic and technical opportunities by supporting the growth of college and career readiness in districts, schools, communities and Native American pueblos, tribes and nations.

“We’re thrilled to see Alvin receive such a well-deserved honor,” LANL Foundation President and CEO Jenny Parks said. “When your work makes a real impact, the ripples just keep spreading. That’s what we aim for at the LANL Foundation, and Alvin absolutely embodies that spirit.”

The fourth annual Inclusive Leader Awards ceremony was held June 22 at the GlobalMindED conference in Denver.
