ESPAÑOLA — The LANL Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Career Pathways Scholarship, an opportunity designed to support Northern New Mexico students and adult learners earning an associate degree, certificate, or professional trade credential in pursuit of a specific career goal.
“The Career Pathways scholarship is about expanding access to education that leads directly to opportunity,” said Mike Ammerman, LANL Foundation Scholarship Program Director. “This scholarship helps remove financial barriers for students and adult learners who are ready to invest in themselves and their futures.”
The Career Pathways Scholarship application is open Jan. 5 through April 3, 2026, and is available to both high school students and adult learners who hold—or are on track to earn—a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency (HSE).
“As a former scholarship recipient, I am committed to serving Northern New Mexico by advancing equity in education and opportunity. Career Pathways shares this mission by providing financial assistance to individuals on their educational journeys. Many recipients return to serve the very communities that supported them,” said Mariposa Gonzales, Co-Chair of the Career Pathways Scholarship Committee.
Scholarship Details
Career Pathways Scholarships are made possible with funding from LANL employees, Triad National Security LLC., the New Mexico Consortium, and many other individual donors from across Northern New Mexico. Scholarships provide $750 per semester, up to $3,000 total, to support tuition, fees, and educational expenses. Awards may be renewed for eligible students who remain in good academic standing and continue making progress toward completion of their program.
Who Should Apply
Applicants from any field of study will be considered if they meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment in—or plans to enroll in—a two-year degree or certificate program
- Permanent residency (366 consecutive days or more) in one of the following Northern New Mexico counties at the time of application: Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe, or Taos
- Earned or on track to earn a high school diploma or GED/HSE, including current high school seniors

Career Pathways Scholars come from a wide range of backgrounds, including high school seniors, GED recipients, working adults returning to school, and individuals pursuing a career change through targeted training.
Application Requirements
Applications are submitted online through the LANL Foundation scholarship portal and include educational history, transcripts (as applicable), information about the intended degree or certificate program, employment and leadership experience, short essay responses, and optional but strongly recommended financial information. There is no minimum GPA requirement, and full-time enrollment is not required
