New Mexico Arts invites the public to an artist talk and new film project debut with New Mexico Arts 2026 Artist in Residence Adrian Pijoan 2–3:30 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Sandia Mountain Natural History Center.
Join New Mexico Arts (NMA) for a free, in-person presentation with NMA 2026 Artist-in-Residence, Adrian Pijoan. Pijoan, an artist and filmmaker based in Albuquerque, has been in residence at the site since March 6, 2026.
Pijoan is a Mexican American interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker who creates video art, narrative film, and installations exploring non-human perspectives, mysterious phenomena, and altered states of consciousness. In his films and art Pijoan uses the language and symbology of dreams, speculative fiction, genre film, and the paranormal to examine the ways people can find their personal ecstasies and anxieties in tales of the fantastic and horrific. He brings an open mind and playful attitude to these journeys into the unknown. Inspired by the forested landscape around the site, Pijoan has been creating a video installation that will be available for people to see and learn about.
The mission of the NMA Artist-in-Residence Program is to increase awareness of significant state cultural sites through the lens of contemporary creatives, while also offering artists an opportunity to focus on their work and share it with the surrounding communities.
