The Los Alamos Hawks Middle School Wrestling Team went to Rio Rancho this weekend to the Rio Rancho Middle School Dual Tournament. They came back to Los Alamos with both a 1st place and a Consolation victory.

Los Alamos brought two teams to Rio Rancho, Los Alamos Blue and Los Alamos SIlver. The Blue team earned 1st place while the Silver team came out with the consolation win.

LA’s Silver team took on Belen MS, Academy MS and Rio Rancho MS. After losing to Belen, the Silver team beat Academy, and lost to RIo Rancho. That put them in the 3rd place round of the championship. They defeated Bernalillo in the consolation match, beating them 42-30.

Los Alamos’ Blue team defeated Bernallio MS, Cleveland MS, MIlagro MS and RIo Rancho MS to take first place at the tournament. LA Blue defeated Bernalillo in the first match by a whopping 102-6. Next up was Cleveland Middle School. The Hawks took Cleveland out by a score of 84-29. In the last match of pool play, the Hawks defeated Milagro by a score of 84-24.

In the final against Rio Rancho, Los Alamos Blue had an intense battle with Rio Rancho, but they prevailed to win the tournament, 57-49. It was great day for both teams. Way to go HAWKS!
