LALT To Host Theater Lighting Workshop Aug. 10

Los Alamos Little Theater (LALT) is hosting a theater lighting workshop open to anyone who wants to learn how to set, design and run lights during a live theater performance.

The class will be held 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the PAC, 1670 Nectar St. The workshop is free and donations are welcome.

Participants will learn the basics of theater lighting with lighting expert Hadley Hershey, who has worked extensively with the lighting equipment at LALT as well as at various theaters as a professional lighting technician, including in New York City.

Workshop topics include understanding lighting fixtures, operating the lighting control board, programming light cues, hanging positions and basic light plot creation. The course will be hands-on. By the end of the workshop, participants will know how to operate stage lights in the PAC for any of its productions.

Coming up in September, Seona Zimmermann directs Beowulf (and the Bard) by Vidas Barzdukas and Christopher R. Bartlett. Catch the show 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28, and 2 p.m. Sept. 22. Beowulf (and the Bard) is produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Ill.

“Love Loss and What I Wore”, directed by Terry Beery and written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron (published by Dramatists Play Service) will be performed 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16 and 2 p.m. Nov. 10.

Holly Robinson will produce LALT’s popular 8x10s to run 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 and 2 p.m. Jan. 14.

Two shorter plays for all ages, “The Myths at the Edge of the World” by Matt Webster, and “Moonbow Miraculous” by Kirk Shimano” will be directed by Mimi Adamas and performed 7 p.m. (note the earlier time) March 7, 8, 14 and 15 and 2 p.m. March 9 and 16. These are produced by special arrangement with Theatrefolk (theatrefolk.com).

LALT’s season finale is “Copenhagen”, directed by Emily Stark and written by Michael Frayn.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. May 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17, and 2 p.m. May 11. Copenhagen is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc., www.concordtheatricals.com.
