LALT Seeks Playwrights And Directors For 8X10s

LALT News:

Interested in writing? Or ever considered crafting a short play? Like to see art performed on stage?

What about directing? Ever wondered what it would be like to direct actors live on stage?

Los Alamos Little Theatre (LALT) has announced its January show: the 8x10s. Eight 10-minute plays will be produced and performed by LALT and it needs the community’s help.

The 8x10s are one of LALT’s favorite ways to highlight local talent and let people try out roles like directing and acting. LALT is taking submissions for scripts, so if people have a hilarious piece about engineering students trapped in a closet, a gut-wrenching melodrama about a lost sock in the laundry, or anything in between, LALT wants to read it.

If people prefer to tell others what to do … otherwise known as direct … there are opportunities for that, too. The 8x10s are an easy foray into directing since it’s only 10 minutes. Whether someone is a first-time director or a seasoned pro, LALT would love for them to join it. All directors will get access to a phenomenal directing workshop, free of charge, hosted by LALT and new directors can also request a Director Mentor to guide them through the process. If anyone has ever been curious about directing live theater, now is their chance.

For those more inclined to bring the art to life through acting, hang tight. LALT will be announcing  auditions a bit later, but expect them to be early November.
