LALT Holds Auditions For ‘Calendar Girls’

LALT News:
Los Alamos Little Theatre announces auditions for its May production, “Calendar Girls,” written by Tim Firth and directed for LALT by Bev Brunson.

Auditions are 6-8 p.m. Feb. 20 and 21 at the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St.
In addition, LALT is holding a reading of the play at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at LALT. Anyone interested in reading or listening is invited to attend.
The play, based on a true story, follows the friendship of Annie and Chris. When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and Chris resolve to raise money for the local hospital and persuade four fellow Women’s Institute members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence.
The news of this charitable venture spreads, and hordes of press descend on their small village. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame.

There are parts for nine women and four men, ages ranging from 20s to 70s.

Scripts are available for perusal in the Mesa and White Rock public libraries.

Persons interested in auditioning who cannot meet the two scheduled sessions are encouraged to contact Brunson to arrange another opportunity. (bevbrunson[at]email.com)

Los Alamos Little Theatre is a member-driven, non-profit 501(c)3 organization that has been presenting community theatre since 1943 for the entertainment and engagement of Northern New Mexico audiences. Information about its season and opportunities for participation is available at www.lalt.org.
