LALT Debuts Assisted Listening System Jan. 16

LALT News:

Los Alamos Little Theatre will unveil its new assisted listening system Jan. 16 at the opening performance of “Murdered to Death” by Peter Gordon.

The induction loop system generates a signal that can be picked up by persons wearing a common type of hearing aid. It will be fed by microphones that pick up the dialogue and sound effects generated on stage.

“This is new technology for us and I expect there will be fine-tuning as we go along,” LALT President Gracie Cainelli said. “We would enjoy feedback from audience members who make use of the system so we can optimize its performance.”

Cainelli explained that the system’s purchase and installation was made possible by a generous grant from Los Alamos National Bank and significant donations from a number of LALT patrons. LALT also purchased five headsets that can be checked out during performances, for use by persons who do not have compatible hearing aid technology.

“Murdered to Death,” a spoof on Agatha Christie mysteries, shows at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Jan. 16-31 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25. Tickets are available online at brownpapertickets.com, at CB FOX or at the door. For more information, visit lalt.org.
