The LAHS boys Varsity golf team traveled to Twin Warriors Golf Course on Tuesday, April 21, to compete at the Rio Rancho High School Invite.

The toppers struggled on the front 9 and found themselves behind the pack on the turn. They found their groove on the back 9 with Lincoln Hoffer (So) holding it down at +1 and in the lead going to the final holes. The young Hoffer remained consistent securing a +3 (75) and tied for second place.

5A schools Volcano Vista and La Cueva jumped to an early lead but began to struggle on the back 9. Even with the toppers getting back on track, they suffered a couple late bogeys and In the end the Toppers fell to 3rd place (320) behind the winner La Cueva HS (304) and Volcano Vista HS (313). The rest of the young topper team bounced back after their rough start securing as much as 7 straight pars in the finish.

Juniors, Mikey Velasquez-Saiz and Angus Smith both carded an 81, while Javan Rael (So) rallied back from early struggles to secure an 83.  Noah Romero (Jr) contributed to the late rally by the toppers with an 86 just ahead of his teammate Liam Jones (So).

The toppers next travel to Albuquerque on May 4 for the District 2, 4A Tournament held at Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course.
