LAHS Student Receives 2015-2016 Civilian Marksmanship Program Scholarship

NJROTC News:

Samuel Wolfe of Los Alamos High School NJROTC in Los Alamos has received the 2015-2016 CMP Youth Scholarship, presented by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).

He will receive a one-year, $1,000 scholarship from CMP based on marksmanship participation, grade point average and merit, to be used toward a pursuit of higher education. The scholarship selection meeting was held in April. CMP staff and board members carefully reviewed hundreds of applications from across the country to determine which exceptional students would receive the scholarships.

Out of 256 applications received, 173 were accepted. Eligible applicants were graduating seniors from JROTC, High School, Club or 4-H programs who participated in marksmanship programs and also excelled both academically and within their communities.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program is a national organization dedicated to the respect for and safe handling of firearms and instilling patriotism and discipline in our youth participants. The CMP provides its constituents with the highest level of instruction in the proper control of firearms by highly-skilled coaches and veteran range safety officers in the classroom, at local ranges and wherever the CMP banner is displayed.
