LAHS News:

The Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers Speech and Debate team will host a High Tea Showcase performance 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 5 at Fuller Lodge.

The High Tea Showcase will kick off a month of fundraisers aimed at reducing costs for travel to out of state tournaments and for financial assistance and support to all students who need financial assistance.

The High Tea Showcase will feature the Hilltalkers performing their award-winning dramatic speeches and musical entertainment.

Refreshments and tea will be provided by Secret City Kitchen, LA Liquor Indian Groceries and Bliss Gift Shop. The event is family friendly and the Hilltalkers welcome and encourage members of the Los Alamos and White Rock communities to come and support them on Sunday, May 5.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 10. Tickets may be purchased online at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/lahshilltakers/260569#

The Hilltalkers also will gratefully accept donations through this website. The Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers is a 501c3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.

For those unable to attend the showcase May 5, the Hilltalkers have several other opportunities for community members to support the Speech and Debate team. Consider supporting these local businesses and, at the same time, the community also can support Speech and Debate:

  • Pampered Chef Fundraiser for the Hilltalkers — purchase Pampered Chef products, support a local business, and support the Speech and Debate team. You can purchase Pampered Chef products and support the Hilltalkers here https://pamperedchef.com/party/Debateteam2019;
  • Macaron sale at Fleur de Lys — stop by Fleur de Lys May 5-11 to purchase macarons to support the Hilltalkers. The Remillieux family will donate 20 percent of their macaron sales for the week of May 5 to the Hilltalkers; and
  • Bliss Gift Emporium Los Alamos — David Tinkham, owner of Bliss, has created a custom tea named “Batha Blend” for the Hilltalkers. Please stop in and buy some of this special blend. A portion of the sales from this blend will be donated to the Hilltalkers. The blend will be part of Bliss’ regular tea inventory. Tinkum also is donating his services to serve tea for our showcase on Sunday. So drop by Bliss Gift Emporium, purchase some tea and gifts, and thank Tinkum for his support.

“Our local businesses and our community are always so willing to help out our Speech and Debate team,” Hilltalkers Coach Margo Batha said. “We really hope that the community will come to our Showcase and make purchases from Fleur de Lys, Bliss, the Indian grocery store and Pampered Chef to help send our Hilltalkers to tournaments and to support Hilltalkers who need financial assistance.”
