This week, School Board members and LAPS officials held a community meeting to seek public input about proposed music wing renovations at Los Alamos High School.
The meeting was attended by students, high school teachers, Principals, and representatives from the Los Alamos Concert Association, Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra, and other interested parties. The B-Wing facility used for Band, Orchestra, Choir, and community programs at LAHS is in need of a significant upgrade.
Proposed renovation designs were developed as a collaborative effort among staff, director of the Duane Smith Auditorium, community members and the architect. The company FBT Architects attended the community meeting and made changes based upon suggestions and discussions about how best to meet the needs of high school programs and community groups.
The input was very positive and those in attendance expressing appreciation to the School Board for assuring that the music wing remodel project is moving forward. The construction work is scheduled to begin at the end of this school year, May 2016, and continue during the summer recess.
