LAHS News:

Los Alamos County is going to open up the nearly completed construction area on Central Avenue for Friday’s Los Alamos High School Homeconing Parade and will  close this area shortly after the parade finishes.

This year’s Homecoming Parade theme is “Banish the Broncos.”

Staging:

Begins at 1:30p.m. at  4th Street and Central Avenue at the Canyon School parking lot. The parade send-off will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m.

Walkers:

Walkers should be dropped off in the old Smith’s parking lot and walk to Canyon School on 4th Street.  There will be no drop off or parking at Canyon School. Walkers will congregate on the west side of the parking lot (see map) to be introduced into the parade once their whole group has arrived.

Floats/Vehicles

This year we are going to establish lanes for the floats and vehicles on the east side of the Canyon School parking lot (see attached map). Floats and vehicles should use Canyon Rd to access 4th street (Central Ave. and 4th  Street access will be closed). Once reaching the parking lot for Canyon school you will be directed into the appropriate lane. Do not arrive at Canyon School earlier then 1:30 p.m. in order to not block the lanes before they are established. You cannot park your float/vehicle at Canyon School until 1:30 p.m.

Route:

The Homecoming Parade will step off at the intersection of 4th Street and Central Avenue promptly at 2:30 p.m. (Parade participants please arrive no later than 2 p.m.) and head down Central, past the judges stand at Starbucks, and down to Rose Street (same route as last year). Walking participants will be directed to the United Church parking lot, while driving participants must drive to the Sullivan Field parking lot before unloading their participants.
