LAPS News:

Three Los Alamos High School art students recently received statewide recognition for their artwork.

Junior Sage Scott placed second for her artwork, “The Ripped Paper Project” in the New Mexico Art Education Association’s high school division at this year’s State Fair.

Senior Catherine Price and junior Lilja Swanson’s artworks entitled “CowBoy Dog” and “4 Shades of Value”, respectively, were selected for display at the Jerry Apodaca New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) building.

Public viewing is open until January.

“I am extremely proud of these students and their hard work,” said LAHS art teacher Mary Grace. “It is wonderful to see their artistic talents being recognized.”

The artists were recognized by the LAPS School Board during their meeting in early October.

Governor Lujan Grisham has officially declared this year as the Year of the Arts in Education in New Mexico.
