Los Alamos Alumni Association News:

The Los Alamos Alumni Association is proud to announce that Joslyn Anjolie Martinez, a graduating 2020 senior, has been awarded the LAHS Alumni Scholarship in Memory of Shirley Fries.

Joslyn is the daughter of Santiago and Anna Martinez. The family resides in Española and Joslyn has commuted from Española to Los Alamos to attend school since the second grade. While doing so she has maintained an excellent GPA while also spending time volunteering in the Española Community throughout high school.

Since 2019 Joslyn has been a job shadow at Presbyterian Hospital, which helped make her decision to become a medical provider.

Joslyn applied and was accepted into eight universities and has decided to attend New Mexico State University in the fall where she has also been accepted into a competitive program known as the Osteopathic Medicine Pathway Program (OMPP), which will give her guaranteed admission into the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine upon graduation at NMSU. Once she has completed her education she plans on returning to New Mexico to provide medical care.

Joslyn has asked that we include her thank you to her parents, brother, grandparents and other family members for their inspiration and encouragement. Because of their influence she feels she has the tools needed to provide a better future for herself and to encourage others do the same. She would also like to thank the Scholarship Committees, from the various scholarships she received, as the scholarships will help her tremendously in continuing her education.
