Acres: 14700
Start Date: 06/25/2025
Location: Gallina, NM
Personnel: 162
Containment: 45%
Fuels: Oak brush, Pinyon-juniper, and mixed conifer
Highlights: Command of the Laguna Fire was transferred to Southwest Area Incident Management Team 1 at 0600 today. Resources are currently working to fully suppress the Laguna Fire.
Fire Activity: Yesterday, crews worked diligently on improving and securing containment lines. On the northwestern edge of the fire, crews worked on tying roads and handlines together. On the southern side, crews worked along rocky ridgelines to help decrease the potential for unwanted fire movement that can occur during outflow wind events due to thunderstorms.
Firefighters continue to patrol existing containment lines around the fire while beginning suppression repair work in appropriate areas. The structure protection group worked yesterday on the northern side of the fire along the Rio Gallina, clearing hazardous trees and debris. Today, crews will continue working towards securing the fire and assessing additional opportunities to achieve increased containment.
Weather: Fair to good humidity recovery is forecast through Monday night. Otherwise, scattered showers and storms during the afternoon hours on Monday and Tuesday will favor strong/erratic wind gusts over wetting rainfall. A Monsoon moisture surge is forecast toward the end of the week that will result in higher humidity and good chances for wetting rainfall.
