The show must go on! The Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) continues its virtual Brown Bag concerts at noon Wednesday.

Marks performs a selection of New Orleans jazz and blues piano spanning artists from throughout the twentieth century, from early stride composers like “Jelly Roll” Moton to later funk players like James Booker.

New Orleans jazz incorporates Latin rhythms with a heavy emphasis on the blues, along with a variety of unique stylistic elements first developed by New Orleans piano players.

Above all, the New Orleans piano styles are always immensely fun. Marks has performed piano and trombone in a variety of musical groups in Los Alamos and performs jazz piano with the band “The Lost Caws” and trombone with the Hillstompers.
