  • “Simplicity in technology is not accidental—it’s built through understanding.” –Stephen Kollman

Owner Stephen Kollman opened LA Tech LLC in February at 1247 Central Ave. Suite F #226 in downtown Los Alamos.

“One call does it all … complete IT solutions for homes and businesses,” Kollman said. ”From troubleshooting and repairs to full network, security, and infrastructure management — we handle it all.”

Kollman spoke about his motivation for starting his own IT business.

“I genuinely enjoy helping people and saw a need in the community for dependable, trustworthy tech support,” he said. ”Technology is a major part of everyday life, but when something goes wrong, it can be overwhelming. I built my company around a ‘one call does it all’ approach—giving both residential clients and businesses a single, reliable point of contact for everything IT-related, from simple fixes to complex solutions.”

Now that he has been operating for a couple of months, Kollman described the greatest thing he has found about running a business in Los Alamos to be the strong sense of community.

“People here value quality work and reliability, and it’s rewarding to be able to provide fast, local support when they need it most. Being able to offer a true ‘one call does it all’ service to both residents and local businesses—where people know they can rely on me for anything IT-related—has been the most fulfilling part so far.”

Kollman was born in Palm Springs, Calif., and spent much of his early life traveling. That experience, he said, gave him a broad perspective and helped him adapt quickly to different environments and challenges.

He attended Southern New Hampshire University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Project Management.

“I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have been ranked among the top 1% of IT students at the university,” Kollman said. “I have also been recognized for national academic excellence and leadership distinction and was selected for membership in the National Society of Leadership and Success based on academic achievement and leadership potential.”

Kollman describes his IT background as starting at a very young age.

“I’ve always had a strong passion for technology—I was the kind of kid who would take computers apart just to understand how they worked and then rebuild them,” he said. “Over time, that curiosity developed into real-world experience. I have worked in IT roles supporting systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and assisting clients in fast-paced environments, including work with multiple Fortune 500 companies. I have also been nominated for both the Gupta Family Endowed Award for Innovation in ALS Care and the Sean M. Healey International Prize for Innovation in ALS, recognizing contributions toward innovative, real-world technology solutions. Today, I combine that hands-on experience with formal education to provide reliable, efficient, and professional IT solutions.”

Kollman said his goal is to continue growing LA Tech LLC into the go-to IT provider in the area by delivering consistent, high-quality service people can rely on.
