Los Alamos Community Foundation, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, embarks upon its next decade with a search for an executive director, one who seeks to make a lasting impact through excellent philanthropic service.

LACF’s executive director is supported by a skilled and committed board and two staff members. The major roll of the ED is to build permanent, named funds, in the support of local needs, causes and nonprofits in Los Alamos.

Current Executive Director Liz Martineau is relocating to Denver to be nearer family. She said her mother always encouraged her to bloom where you are planted.

“Most of the people living in Los Alamos are transplants,” Martineau said. “I encourage all of you to bloom where you are planted. You can do that by volunteering, giving to local organizations, and helping your neighbors.”

Board President Linda Daly said the executive director search is being conducted through March or until filled, with the hopes of a quick hire so that Martineau can help with the transition until her departure in sometime in June.

Daly said that the new ED will guide the Foundation through continued growth and investment in the community. The new ED will also be charged with oversight and increase of the Foundation’s more than $2 million in endowed assets and 20-plus endowed funds.
