At their April 13 meeting, the Los Alamos Kiwanis hosted Abby Vollans, a fourth grader at Aspen School and Treasurer of the K-Kids, a Kiwanis sponsored student service club. She was accompanied by Rachel Bartram, Aspen staff advisor for K-Kids for the past 5 years. Abby, along with fellow K-Kids member Eva Sandoval, used AI to create a slide show that highlights the many activities their club has done over the past year.

They have been a busy bunch!

For the African Library Project, they first collected about 1,00 books, then raised money to ship the books. They wrote notes to be put into the boxes of books, which they then packaged up, and finally, shipped to Africa.

Some kids donated coats to their K-Kids club, which were then collected and donated to people in need.

The club participated in the Spring Fling event and held a bake sale where they earned about $350. With the money they raised, they purchased equipment for the school’s sports programs, including soccer goals, flag football flags, and balls. They also made and painted a play kitchen for the little kids’ playground.

K-Kids week was a celebration for all the K-Kids students who work to help the community. They created and put up posters about respecting teachers with the message to remember to treat teachers the same as we would to our best friends. The end of the presentation was an encouragement to the students to join K-Kids next year.
