PEEC News:

PEEC will hold an afternoon of activities about cave exploration Wednesday, May 22.

Children and their parents are invited to drop in any time between 1-4 p.m. to join the fun in this free event.

PEEC and the Mesa Public Library are hosting the Underground of Enchantment exhibit about Lechuguilla Cave.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Los Alamos County Library, this exhibit features 3-D photographs of the cave (at Mesa Public Library) and four short 3-D films that take the viewer underground to see some of the many fascinating rock formations and geological features that most people never get to experience in real life.

At Explore Caving, kids will get a chance to view the films and participate in hands-on activities about caving.

Caver Beth Cortright, Angelique Harshman and Kim Secrest will be on hand to show real cavers’ gear, talk about what it’s like to spend a week working deep underground, and lead an art activity.

For further information, contact PEEC at 3540 Orange St., 662-0460, or www.PajaritoEEC.org.
