Throwing caution to the wind, Member Services Coordinator Katy Korkos of the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce surprised one of her business members Monday as she entered their business and asked to be pierced. Korkos hadn’t had her ears pierced as a child but after receiving a pair of MJ Oref designed earrings Monday, made the decision to get it done. She headed straight to Bennett’s Fine Jewelry, 107 Central Park Square. Within minutes, Korkos walked out sporting pierced studs, which she will keep in her ears for six weeks to allow the new piercings to heal over. Ear piercing is one of the oldest known forms of body modification, with artistic and written references from cultures around the world dating back to early history. Courtesy photo
