COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County invites everyone to attend a ribbon‑cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13 to celebrate the completion of the new Justice Center wall mosaic—a large‑scale glass artwork commissioned by the Art in Public Places Board.
The ceremony will include short remarks from County representatives and artist J Muzacz, ending with a ribbon cutting to commemorate the artwork’s addition to the County’s public art collection.
The event will take place at the south‑facing exterior wall of the Los Alamos Justice Center, at the corner of Trinity Drive and Oppenheimer Drive.
The mosaic’s installation will follow the June 5-7 community assembly workshops, where residents of all ages are helping construct the mosaic tiles using the artist’s guided template system. These workshops will transform Mesa Public Library’s third‑floor room into a bustling art studio offering both reserved and drop‑in participation options for families, youth, organizations, and visitors.
Created by artist J Muzacz, the mosaic features native flora and fauna selected directly by residents to make sure the final mosaic reflects the natural environment and shared identity of Los Alamos.
