Puzo the beloved parakeet of Daniel Yampalsky, 8, is reunited with the family early this evening at the home of Steve and Ann Greene on Los Pueblos. Puzo was happy to see his family and hopped up on Danial’s shoulder – lifting everyone’s spirits. Puzo went missing Thursday and Daniel ‘was devastated’ his mom said. The Yampalsky family lives several miles away near Los Alamos Middle School. The family saw the photo of their missing parakeet this morning in the Los Alamos Daily Post. A meeting was arranged to pick up Puzo at the Greene’s home at 6 p.m. because the family was at a swimming tournament today in Albuquerque. Photo by John McHale/ladailypost.com
From left, Kathrine Gutkovskiy, her husband Nikolai Yampolsky, their sons Daniel and Alex Yampolsky and homeowner Steve Greene early this evening as the family is reunited with their missing parakeet Puzo (Russian for belly). It turns out Puzo was spotted Thursday flying around Steve and Ann Greene’s home on Los Pueblos. Steve went out to investigate and the Parakeet landed on his head, so he walked inside the house and the Parakeet went with him. Once inside Steve and Ann started the process to locate the friendly bird’s owners. After calling various neighbors to no avail, Steve sent a photo this morning of himself with Puzo perched on his head to the Los Alamos Daily Post. Gutkovskiy saw the photo and called the Post to claim her sweet parakeet. Photo by John McHale/ladailypost.com

The photo sent to the Post early this morning by local resident Steve Greene of the parakeet that showed up out of the blue Thursday at his home on Los Pueblos. The friendly little parakeet liked to perch on Greene’s head. ‘While raising our spirits, we suspect the parakeet may be a lost pet because she acts fairly tame,’ Greene said this morning. The call went out for the owner to contact the Post and within 4 hours the owner sent this email message: Dear Los Alamos Daily Post, our parakeet flew away yesterday (May 20). His name is Puzo and we are attaching his picture. Our little boy (Daniel) is absolutely devastated, please let us know how and when can we get our bird back. Thank you!!!!!!!! Photo by Steve Greene
