TRAVEL News:

On a cold December evening in Los Alamos, escape to the South Pacific if only for a short time, to learn more about the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and variety of activities that the region has to offer.

Join Los Alamos travel specialist Colette Levine of Journey Pacific for a free “South Pacific Travel Information Evening” 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at Fuller Lodge.

Levine and other representatives from Journey Pacific, as well as special invited guests from Vanuatu Tourism and Fiji, will take you on an informational journey through Australia, New Zealand and the islands of the South Pacific with slide shows and special presentations.

Refreshments will be served, and special packages to various destinations offered.

Levine, owner of Journey Pacific, is originally from England, but for the last 5 years she has been living in Los Alamos with her husband and two sons.

“I am a huge travel enthusiast who travels abroad at least four times a year,” said Levine, “and I’m always eager to share that love of travel with other people. Out of that was born this idea to host a South Pacific information night, to share with others in Los Alamos about all that the area has to offer.”

Levine added that she has lived in Australia, traveled to Fiji 20 times and also has been to lesser-known areas such as the Cook Islands and, in Levine’s own words, “untouched, amazing Vanuatu”.

The South Pacific has so much to offer, from the luxury of Tahiti with the over-water bungalows, to the various islands of Fiji where movies like The Blue Lagoon and Castaway were filmed. You can feel like you’re in the middle of a National Geographic episode on a visit to the island nation of Vanuatu, where it’s like stepping back in time.

Villagers there wear traditional dress, and the last incident of cannibalism was in the 1960’s. You can see anything from erupting volcanoes and waterfalls to the underwater beauty, which is famous for its wrecks and reefs.

For more information about the free South Pacific Travel Information Evening or to RSVP (requested but not necessary), contact Colette Levine at 505.216.9111 or Colette@JourneyPacific.com.
