PEEC News:

The next outing in the Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s new outdoor program, Inside-Outside Adventures is coming up June 16.

Inside-Outside Adventures is a series of experiential outings for women led by Body-Connection Coach Michelle Harkey and Posture Alignment Coach Sandra West. Registration for the June 16 hike closes on June 8.

Harkey and West designed the outings to use natural settings and outdoor activities to facilitate self-exploration, share the joy of being in nature, and help participants develop tools for living in today’s fast-paced society. The day hikes and overnight camping trip can be done as a series or individually.

Each hike will include activities that surround a theme from a different part of Brené Brown’s book The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are and her 10 guideposts of whole-hearted living.

Inside-Outside Adventures Schedule:
  • June 16 – day hike,
  • July 21 – day hike
  • September 15-16 – hiking and camping trip

Each day hike will begin at 8:30 a.m. and return by 3:30 p.m. During that time, participants will hike one to five miles with 100 to 900 feet of elevation change. Participants will read a section of Brené Brown’s book before the event and bring a journal, hiking supplies (weather appropriate clothing, sunscreen, water, snacks) and lunch. Participants will meet at the Los Alamos Nature Center and carpool to the trailhead.

Those who are interested in all four outings can save by signing up for all three hikes and the overnight camping trip. One individual, experiential day hike is $125/PEEC member or $150 for non-members. The overnight trip is $225/PEEC member or $275 for non-members. Registration is required.
