COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Manager Anne Laurent has announced the appointment of John Craig as the new deputy county manager, effective April 29.

Craig joins Linda Matteson, who serves in the same capacity. Together they will share responsibilities to support Laurent in achieving the Council’s strategic goals and ensuring that the County government remains responsive to the needs of its residents.

Earning a Master of Public Policy and Administration degree from Columbia University and with more than 25 years of city and county administration and management, Craig brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has held positions with the City of Barre, Vt.; Talbot County, Md.; Mono County, Calif.; the City of Rio Rancho and most recently, the City of Albuquerque.

Additionally, Craig has developed strong financial and budget expertise, having started his career at Moody’s Investor Service and then working as the strategic budgeting branch chief for the District of Columbia.

As the new deputy county manager, Craig will focus on supporting Los Alamos County’s internal service operations to meet the needs of the front-line departments. He will also take the lead on special projects, which will benefit from his vast experience.

“We are thrilled to welcome John to our team and are confident that his extensive background will be an invaluable asset to our community,” Laurent said. “I look forward to introducing him to the council and the community at our upcoming April 29 Budget Hearing.”
