Jemez Springs 4th Of July Fireworks Show Canceled

JEMEZ SPRINGS—The Village of Jemez Springs has canceled its planned fireworks show scheduled for Tuesday night. 

Mayor Roger Sweet spoke with the Fire Chief and out of an abundance of caution, due to dry conditions caused by lack of rain in recent weeks, decided to cancel the fireworks portion of the 4th of July festivities on Tuesday.

ALL previously announced events will take place as planned including:

Local growers will be selling items beginning at 9 a.m. at the Farmer’s Market along with arts and crafts vendors. There is no fee to be a vendor.

The 4th of July event kicks off at 10 a.m. with a parade commencing from the Jemez Springs Community Park up N.M. 4 to the Jemez Springs Plaza.

Following the parade, the American Legion will lead a flag raising ceremony. Local musicians will bring the celebration to life starting at noon and continuing throughout the day at the Plaza gazebo.

Performers include Hill Stompers; Howie, Meg and Greg; Javier Ortega and others.

Food trucks, pies and beer garden (entry for 21 and over only) will be available throughout the event along with kids activities in the Plaza.

Event goers may win cash for the fastest plastic duck that makes it downstream in the Jemez River, during the Duck Race at 1 p.m. Tickets are $1 each and benefit the Jemez Springs Public Library.

There is no charge for the events outside of Chicken Poop Bingo and the Duck Race.
