COMMUNITY News:
The Friends of the Los Alamos County Libraries, in partnership with the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, have awarded the 2018 June Ettinger Memorial Scholarship to Isabella Stephens for her review of the book I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak.
The scholarship was created to honor those who love books. Applicants were asked to write a personal narrative concerning an age-appropriate book that was not required for school and that has not been translated into a visual medium. The narrative had to demonstrate in what ways the book added to the student’s understanding of the human condition or had enhanced his or her life.
Stephens will attend Montana State University in the fall where she plans to major in English Education. She is the daughter of Keith and Marybeth Stephens.
Funds for the June Ettinger Memorial Scholarship are managed by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, an independent organization that supports, challenges, and invests in a successful future for all Los Alamos public school students. Learn more about the Foundation at www.lapsfoundation.com.
