Investigators Seek Public’s Help in Solving Navajo Man’s Death

The FBI and Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations are asking the public for information regarding an apparent hit-and-run death that occurred last Saturday night in Fruitland, N.M.

Stanley Begay, a 51-year-old Navajo man, was found dead on Navajo Route 36, near Mile Post 17, about 15 miles southwest of Farmington, at about 8:46 p.m. Saturday.

Begay was walking along Navajo Route 36 when he apparently was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.

No witnesses have come forward.

Investigators would like to talk to anyone who may have driven in the area on Navajo Route 36 around the time Begay’s body was found.
