The kick-off session for the newest Leadership Los Alamos Class took place Saturday, Sept. 21.

Leadership Los Alamos was founded to identify current and emerging leaders in the Los Alamos community, enhance their leadership skills, and deepen their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing our region.

The Class of 2019-2020 will learn about both the inner and the outer workings of community organizations, Los Alamos culture and history, youth, education, local government, economic development, and environmental issues.

In the Leadership Los Alamos program, students will learn as much about themselves as they do about leadership, teamwork, and the community. Each session has been developed by a team of leadership experts from every type of background, and includes local leaders sharing their paths to success, networking, and discussion on some of the most popular leadership concepts in today’s society.

This year’s program kicked off at Bandelier National Monument, where students spent two days building relationships and learning about their leadership styles, strengths and weaknesses. The first session was extraordinary, as the students spent their time working with Phil Bryson, a well know leadership expert and owner of On the Edge Productions. He specializes in organizational/corporate training and has been a critical component of Leadership Los Alamos for several years.

The Class of 2019-2020 combines several new residents of the Los Alamos community with several who have been local leaders for some time. The mix of education, experience, and desire that these leaders have already shown will provide for a dynamic learning platform.

The Leadership Los Alamos Board would like to wish this new class the best of luck as they begin the program, and we are excited to see the progress you will make as individuals, leaders and community members.
