Pastor Nicolé Raddu Ferry welcomed congregation members, friends and family to an Installation Ceremony Saturday morning for Deacon Amy Colleen Schmuck at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church (BELC) at 2390 North Road.

Deacon Amy was ordained Feb. 24 at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colo., and Saturday installed as Deacon for Welcome and Lifelong Learning at BELC.

Bishop Jim Gonia of the Rocky Mountain Synod delivered the sermon during the ceremony. Deacon Amy’s husband Alan Schmuck led the congregation in a reading of psalms 150, and their son Connor  delivered the second reading during the ceremony.

“Thanks be to God for this call to serve with the people of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in beautiful Los Alamos!” Deacon Amy said. “I also want to acknowledge the following people and faith communities for their participation in my formation and call to serve. My family Alan, Adam and Connor … your love lifts my heart and strengthens my faith daily.”

Deacon Amy thanked her parents for presenting her for baptism as an infant and for all their love. She also thanked a number of faith communities including the Rocky Mountain Synod ELCA, “for being the hands and feet of Jesus in my life, and the life of my family since we moved here in 2015.”

“Rev. Nicolé Ferry, The Call Committee, Church Council and all the ministers of Christian faith at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church for your invitation, your welcome, and your love in extending this call to serve with you,” Deacon Amy said. “Thank God and thank you. My heart is full to overflowing.”
