SANTA FE As part of Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver’s commitment to ensuring the public and press have the information they need for Election Day 2018, her office is providing the following reminders, information and links.
 
Election Day
 
Election Day is today, Tuesday Nov. 6, 2018 and polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (MST) throughout New Mexico.
 
Absentee Ballots
 
Eligible voters may return their completed absentee ballot to the appropriate county clerk’s office or to any Election Day polling location before polls close at 7 p.m. today.
 
Finding Election Results and Other Resources
 
The front page of the Secretary of State’s website has changed to a static landing page with links to unofficial election results, a listing of Election Day voter hotline numbers, and resources for voters, like links to view a sample ballot or find a polling location.
 
A morning, mid-day, and afternoon report on statewide voter turnout will be released by the Secretary of State’s office on Election Day.
 
Unofficial election results will become available after 7 p.m., (MST) Election Day, Nov. 6, 2018 and will be posted as they are received from the county clerk’s offices.

Automatic Recounts
 
For federal or statewide offices, or for judicial offices in counties with more than 200,000 registered voters, an automatic recount is triggered if, after the canvass of returns, the margin between the two candidates receiving the most votes is less than one-fourth of one percent of the total votes cast for that office in that election. For any other state office, an automatic recount is triggered if, after the canvass of returns, the margin between the two candidates receiving the most votes is less than one percent of the total votes cast for that office in that election.
