The Iguanas from New Orleans play Los Alamos Summer Concert Series at 7 p.m. today at Rover Park in White Rock. The weather should be fine but remember that may change so dress for anything. The Show will go on.
The Iguanas play a gumbo of Cajun (French-Acadian), Mexican, Mexican-American rock, New Orleans’ rock, jazz & blues plus roots- rock They’ve played all over the world including NPR’s Mountain Stage, Tipitinas, the “Treme” TV show ( they also appear on the Season 2 soundtrack CD), the New Orleans’ Jazz Fest (many times), South By Southwest and nearly every major club and festival in the U.S.
This weekend is the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. This is a great time to celebrate a great sound from a fantastic city. Laissez les bon temps roulez!
Next week’s concert will be the last one of the 2015 season. We have moved the show back to Ashley Pond Park after we discovered the new White Rock Library area is too small. Sorry, White Rock folks but the new stage at Ashley Pond is easily the best venue for many miles. Please excuse us and remember that the corner of Rover and N.M. 4 to Ashley Pond is only 9 miles. Los Alamos and White Rock are in the same county, please, please, please think of Ashley Pond as your home park.
Local LA County classic rock, roots-rock and rockabilly bands, Eddy & the Nomads plus DK & the Affordables will play this final concert. Hopefully, “the circle will not be broken” and we can all be together again in 2016.
