iCare Campers Plant Flowers in Preparation for Saturday’s YMCA Golf Classic

Campers from the YMCA’s iCare Adventures outdoor awareness camp planted flowers at the Los Alamos Golf Course this morning in preparation for the Ed Griggs memorial Strong Kids Golf Classic set for Saturday. The young adventurers were joined by Matt Schmidt, Chair of the Golf Tournament Committee. ‘We had more volunteers this year than ever before,’ Schmidt said. ‘This year we expect to raise around $20,000 to offer scholarships to kids for YMCA programs.’ Photo by Bonnie J. The iCare campers were assisted by Ev Griggs, widow of Ed Griggs for whom the Golf Classis is named. Ed was a master gardener, golfer and YMCA member and volunteer who dedicated many hours to doing decorative planting at the Golf Course.
