SFCC News:
SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) welcomed a new member to its Governing Board on Feb. 25, when Howard Roy Dittmer, Ph.D., was officially sworn into office. The oath was administered by retired municipal judge Angela “Spence” Pacheco.
Dittmer joins the five-member board and will serve in Board Position #5. At its Jan. 14 meeting, the board elected the following officers: Chair Linda Siegle, Vice Chair Xubi Wilson, and Secretary Lina Germann, Ph.D. Jody Pugh, the previous board chair, now serves as a board member.
Dittmer, a retired engineer and former vice president of engineering and technology at ARPAC, brings decades of leadership experience in manufacturing and product development. He has held executive engineering roles across multiple national and international firms and served for more than 20 years on the Virginia Tech Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board.
Having moved to Lamy three years ago, Dittmer said he was impressed by SFCC’s career and technical education offerings and looks forward to supporting the College’s efforts to ensure students have access to the skills needed to succeed in the workforce.
“Howard brings a broad and highly relevant background in engineering and leadership to the College,” said SFCC President Becky Rowley, Ph.D. “The College welcomes Dr. Dittmer and looks forward to his contributions in advancing SFCC’s mission to empower students and strengthen community.”
“Santa Fe Community College is a valuable resource for Santa Fe and the surrounding communities,” Dittmer said. “I am excited to join the Governing Board and look forward to contributing to the continued success of the College, our students and our community.”
The five members of the board are locally elected residents who serve six-year at-large terms. They work to support the College’s mission and advance the best interests of SFCC students, employees and the community.
Regular board meetings are scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Board Room, West Wing Room 223. The meetings are open to the public.
