UNM-LA and Ponderosa Pines are in their second year of working with students to provide designated, affordable apartments for UNM-LA students. Interested students should apply now to move in Aug. 18, before classes begin Aug. 21.
Plateau Property Management has contracted with UNM-Los Alamos and the New Mexico Consortium to provide a limited number of furnished apartments at a discounted rate to UNM-LA students during the academic year, and to students interning with the New Mexico Consortium during the summer.
Mike Lippiatt, who manages properties for Plateau Property Management, spoke with enthusiasm about the arrangement.
“We’ve really enjoyed working with the New Mexico Consortium and UNM-LA. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for all the students and interns who live here,” he said.
The Ponderosa Pines Apartments, at 3000 Trinity Dr., next to the Reel Deal Theater, are within walking distance of the UNM-LA campus, and also very close to a direct bus route.
There is a maximum of eight 2-bedroom units and one 3-bedroom unit available. All units are fully furnished, from furniture to linens to cooking utensils, dish sets and flatware. The complex was renovated last year with new carpet and tile throughout, new windows and bathroom remodels.
Fulltime UNM-LA students enrolled in a degree program and in good standing with the university are eligible for the housing. Interested students should first contact UNM-LA to verify their eligibility.
