          • As HOLMANS USA celebrates its 70th anniversary, the company is reflecting on its transformation from a 1955 map shop into a national technology provider with enduring ties to New Mexico’s public-sector and research institutions, including its long-established presence in Los Alamos.

HOLMANS USA is celebrating its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of evolution from a local map and surveying shop founded in 1955 into a nationally recognized technology partner supporting customers across four time zones.

Originally established as Holman’s House of Maps, the company spent its early decades supplying surveying and mapping equipment throughout New Mexico. HOLMANS expanded into technology in the 1980s, beginning its work with federal agencies and New Mexico research institutions—including Los Alamos National Laboratory—a shift that set the stage for the company’s long-term focus on advanced hardware solutions.

HOLMANS opened its Los Alamos office in 2011 to further support customers in the region and to strengthen its on-the-ground presence for DOE-related organizations that rely on secure, mission-focused computing environments.

“Celebrating seventy years allows us to reflect on the relationships and trust that have helped shape this company,” CEO John Santoru said. “Our longstanding work with Los Alamos National Laboratory is an important part of our history, and establishing a dedicated presence in Los Alamos more than a decade ago reinforced our commitment to supporting the organizations that drive innovation across New Mexico.”

Earlier this year, HOLMANS USA received a Recognition of Small Business Excellence Award from Los Alamos National Laboratory, presented in July by Division Director for Procurement Brooks Baldwin. During the ceremony, Baldwin noted HOLMANS’ role as a trusted reseller for HPI, HPE, and Apple solutions across the DOE ecosystem.

HOLMANS’ 70th anniversary was celebrated this fall at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, where partners from HP Inc., HPE, and Apple joined the company to honor decades of collaboration. The evening also premiered a new short documentary film showcasing the company’s evolution from a small New Mexico shop to a national technology supplier.

“It was incredible to see partners, community members, and staff come together to recognize how far we’ve come,” said Justina Grant, Director of Marketing & Community Relations. “Our work with Los Alamos National Laboratory and our presence here in the community remain central to the Holmans story.”

Since 2023, HOLMANS USA has provided more than $450,000 in support to New Mexico nonprofit organizations, with contributions focused on education, healthcare, cultural programs, and economic opportunity.
