The 18th ranked Hilltoppers lost the middle game of their “home team game” binge to the 17th ranked Artesia Bulldogs on Friday night.

The game was even at 40-40 going into the fourth quarter, but the Bulldog switch to a 2-3 zone defense in the fourth quarter effectively shut down the Toppers. Once the Bulldogs got the lead they went into a 4-corners stall and held on for the win.

The Toppers were led in scoring by sophomore guard, Jack Stewart. He had 16 points, 11 of them in the second half. The 6’5” junior post, Adam Paulson, had 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Toppers. Artesia was led in scoring by 5’10” senior guard, Carlos Caldera who had 17 points. The Bulldogs 6’6” senior post Justin Houghtaling corralled 7 rebounds.
