The family-friendly “Beer Fiesta” is sponsored by the Los Alamos Beer Co-op, New Mexico’s only cooperative brewery in planning. Along with celebrating the state’s burgeoning craft brewing industry, this Fiesta marks two important milestones in the Co-op’s push to become a reality: the purchase of a used brewing system from Albuquerque’s Bosque Brewing Company, and the signing of a lease for space in downtown Los Alamos.
Beer lovers can try a number of handcrafted beers noon to 6 p.m., from several New Mexico microbreweries including Santa Fe Brewing Company, Taos Mesa Brewing, Marble Brewing and La Cumbre Brewing Company.
Entry is $10 per person, cash only and includes one beer. Beers also will be sold individually by vendors. Tickets can be purchased on site at Pajarito Ski Mountain.
Local band Felix y Los Gatos will perform live rock n’ roll music 12:30-4:30 p.m., and food will be available for purchase noon to 5 p.m. at Pajarito Mountain Cafe. Pajarito Mountain’s summer ski lift is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offers breathtaking views of the Jemez Mountains. Guests can participate in a “hike and bike” where lifts will take riders along Aspen Lift – with a peak elevation of 10,331 – and riders can hike or bike down. For Pajarito Mountain lift ticket information visit http://skipajarito.com/.
Free shuttle service is available every half hour 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Sullivan Field at Los Alamos High School, 1300 Diamond Dr., to Pajarito Ski Mountain’s Ski Hill.
The “Beer Fiesta” is sponsored by the Los Alamos Beer Co-op, whose purpose is to establish a brewery and taproom in Los Alamos as a place for the community to gather and enjoy locally handcrafted beer. For membership applications and more information, visit losalamosbeer.coop.
