Heinrich To Serve As Ranking Member Of Joint Economic Committee

U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich

POLITICAL News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released the following statement after being selected as ranking member of the U.S. Joint Economic Committee in the 115th Congress. Heinrich currently serves, and will continue to serve, on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources, Intelligence, and Armed Service Committees.

“Too many people in Washington, D.C. think that if the stock market is going up, the economy is in good shape. But that’s not the reality for working families. The way we should measure the success of the economy is if wages go up, parents can afford to send their kids to college, entrepreneurs can start new businesses, and workers are able to retire with piece of mind.

“I look forward to using this new leadership position on the Joint Economic Committee to better focus Congress on making our economy work for everyone. The American people want their middle class back and I will fight everyday to make that a reality.”

The Senate Democratic Steering Committee today announced Democratic Committee memberships for the 115th Congress, which are subject to ratification by the caucus and the Senate when Congress convenes in January 2017.
