Heinrich, Campos Meet With Community Leaders To Discuss Economic Development Opportunities

LAS VEGAS, N.M. — Thursday, U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, hosted a roundtable alongside New Mexico State Sen. Pete Campos and other community leaders to discuss economic development opportunities in Las Vegas.

The public officials and community leaders discussed the road to recovery from the Hermit’s Peak/ Calf Canyon Fire, support for small businesses and rural hospitals, and opportunities for education and workforce development at Luna Community College. 

Sen. Heinrich was joined by Dr. Veena Parboteeah, dean of the School of Business, Media and Technology at New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas Community Foundation Executive Director Elmo Baca, the Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance Executive Director Lea Knutson, Jeese Lee of Land of Enchantment Guides, Luna Community College President Dr. Carol Linder, and other community leaders.

“Fundamentally, leadership is about what you can build,” Heinrich said. “I was pleased to sit down with Sen. Pete Campos and so many community leaders and business owners from San Miguel and Mora Counties to discuss the road ahead as we work to strengthen the local economy.”
