U.S. SENATE News:

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M. is encouraging New Mexicans interested in attending the outdoor simulcast of Pope Francis addressing a Joint Session of Congress Thursday, Sept. 24, to contact his Washington, D.C. office for tickets.

Pope Francis will be the first Pope to address a joint meeting of Congress. Heinrich will be allotted 200 tickets for the simulcast on the West Front grounds of the U.S. Capitol.

“This will be a very special moment for New Mexicans and the rest of the country,” Heinrich said. “I’m pleased we will be able to offer tickets to New Mexicans for this historic event, and encourage those interested in attending to contact my office.”

If there are more than 200 requests, the tickets will then be distributed by lottery. New Mexicans who would like to attend must call Heinrich’s office at 202.224.5521 by 3 p.m. MT Friday, Sept. 4.

Tickets for the event are only provided through Congressional offices and are free of charge. Tickets are not for resale. Travel and accommodations will be at the ticket holder’s expense.
