Nathan Gomme, executive director of the New Mexico Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, will discuss the impact of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on the personal lives of those affected by hearing loss, to whatever degree.
Gomme, an honors graduate of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., and a New Mexico resident since 2005, heads the state commission dedicated to providing technology and access to programs that help adults and children with hearing loss lead more connected lives. Sign language interpreters and a hearing loop that allows attendees to use the telecoil switch on hearing aids and hear without interference will be available.
The meeting is free and open to all. No reservations are required. The meeting is 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Vitamin Cottage Event Center, Natural Grocers, Cerrillos Road and Richards Avenue in Santa Fe.
