HARVEST FESTIVAL News:

After a year and a half of quietly harvesting produce, kidding goats, and making the school’s famous goat cheese and other farm products sold locally, the students and staff at Camino de Paz are ready to welcome the public back to their 10-acre farm campus in Santa Cruz, to celebrate the abundance of Autumn.

There will be fun for all ages at the Montessori school and farm’s annual harvest festival and admissions open house. Visit the new classroom spaces, meet the goats, take a student-led tour, buy your holiday pumpkins, make corn husk dolls, taste the fresh-pressed cider, and try out all the fall foods.

Camino de Paz School and Farm serves Santa Fe and Española-area students in grades 7 through 12. A typical day at the school integrates animal care, farm chores, and classroom Montessori education.

“It’s a great experience to really see where your food comes from and learn how to run a business,” said Santa Fe ninth grader Max Gore-Perez said, who transferred to Camino de Paz during the pandemic to spend more time outside and less time on Zoom.

The Harvest Festival is 1-4 p.m. Oct. 24 at Camino de Paz Farm and School, 03A Camino de Paz, just off Santa Cruz Road in Santa Cruz.
