Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Superintendent Jennifer Guy, Piñon Elementary School Principal Ivanna Austell and Assistant Principal Jennifer Kieltyka, representatives from Dekker Perich Sabatini Architects and Jaynes Corporation broke ground earlier this month to start construction on the new Piñon Elementary School.
“We are so excited to get this construction project underway,” Superintendent Guy said. “This new school building will benefit our students and our community, and we thank everyone for their continued support of Los Alamos Public Schools.”
LAPS School Board members, Piñon Elementary School staff, Los Alamos County staff, County Council members, and White Rock residents were also in attendance at the recent ground breaking. Construction of the new school building is scheduled to be completed by December 2024. Demolition of the current buildings will start in January 2025.
