EDUCATION News:

The J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Committee is dedicated to furthering the memory and spirit of J. Robert Oppenheimer through scholarships to graduating seniors attending Los Alamos, Pojoaque, Capitol, and Santa Fe public high schools.

The committee awarded the first scholarship in 1984 and the number of scholarships awarded has grown over the years due to the generous contributions of many people. Twelve scholarships were awarded in 2016.

The Committee would like to remind graduating seniors that the deadline for applications for Los Alamos High School students is April 1, 2017, while the deadline for students attending Pojoaque, Capitol and Santa Fe high schools is March 29.

Scholarships are merit based and are awarded to students pursuing degrees in basic and applied physical sciences, life sciences, computer sciences, mathematics and the arts.

Seniors are encouraged to contact their high school counselor for more information. Students at Pojoaque, Santa Fe or Capitol high schools should direct their questions about applications to Mary Louise Williams at 505.455.7221. Students at Los Alamos High School should direct their questions to Michelle Hall @ hall@scieds.com or Caroline Mason at 505.672.1938.
